Stirling Council

What We Did:

Logo / Branding / Advertising / Menus / Animation

In 2015 we ran a competition between secondary schools in Stirling. This was a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style competition aimed at getting pupils involved with the creation of a new school meal service brand.

The teams were all given support throughout the process, which culminated in a series of presentations to a team of judges. The school pupils from Stirling High School won the competition with their presentation on their ‘Fresco’ brand.

We worked with the team, helping them to produce themes and product mixes, and relevant marketing messages. We designed the finalised brand as well as a series of films, marketing material and dining room branding.

The team have now presented at various events across Scotland, winning a special BEBL Award (Better Eating Better Learning) jointly promoted by Education Scotland and ASSIST FM.

We have now worked with four councils across Scotland on similar competitions, developing the council brands and working with the pupils to help them to understand the marketing mix and business aspects of launching a brand new brand. Margaret Gilmour, Facilities Service Manager for Stirling Council, said: “The idea behind the project was to ask pupils what they wanted and have this reflected in the schools’ food offering. By taking a ‘customer involvement’ approach and listening to feedback our catering service can provide the kind of meals pupils want while ensuring that these are healthy and nutritious.”
